What a great experience. The history was the best. He sat us, explained the menu and some dishes in great detail and just chatted us up. He was so nice and just a happy guy. Started our experience off well. The server arrived quickly, and she was just lovely. She too took some time with us, chatted up the restaurant and the area (we’re newbies to Rapid City). Then the food arrived. OMG. I don’t think we said a word during dinner other than, ‘this tastes insane’ and ‘get your fork outta my plate’. Delicious. Crazy delicious. We had Bison Marsala, Carbonara and a house salad. All of which were enough for two! Highly recommend.

I had breakfast at Tally’s Spoon and really enjoyed the experience. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and the Lox Plate. Personally, I loved the Chicken Fried Steak the most — it was crunchy, flavorful, and tasted even better with the country gravy on top. It was served with hash browns, which made the meal even more satisfying. The Lox Plate tasted good as well. I actually went there hoping to try the Duck Duck Goose, but unfortunately they didn’t have the foie gras available, so I couldn’t try it this time. Hopefully next visit!

We had the most delicious dinner here. We sat at the bar, Gunner was a fantastic bartender/server. We decided to have the 3 course indecision menu, this is a chefs choice tasting menu. All I can say is wow! The food was excellent and Gunner's wine pairings were perfect with the 3 courses. We had the truffle hunter appetizer, goddess salad and bison loin entree with the date night dessert. It was all delicious and we enjoyed every bite. I would highly recommend this place if you are ever in Rapid City.

Good golly what a fantastic dining experience. I didn’t have a reservation for dinner however, the host kindly sat me right away. Everything from service to the food itself was amazing. I will always remember this restaurant!

Cool place. Not many tables but food and service were spot on. Bison mushroom pasta was amazing. Only wine and beer.

Great of the greatest! That place honestly deserved at least 2 of Michelin Guide stars. Harmony of tastes and freshness is indescribable. You must try everything! From each salad to each desert, everything was mouthwatering. Extra joy for us brought the waitress, thank you Justice for such proper explanation and welcoming and professional service.

From the moment we walked in, Tally’s Silver Spoon gave off a vibe that was both upscale and unpretentious. It somehow pulls off that rare balance—feeling classy without being stuffy, cozy without being kitschy. Our server was genuinely kind and helpful, offering smart recommendations and answering all our questions without rushing us. It felt like she actually wanted us to enjoy our meal—not just turn a table. And the food? Creative, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. It wasn’t just “good for Rapid City” or “good for a vacation town”—it was flat-out excellent. If I lived nearby, I’d be a regular. If you’re looking for something memorable while you’re in the Black Hills area, Tally’s absolutely earns the hype.

Easily in my top three for eggs Benedict in the U.S. and I’ve had em all over the globe. Crazy bagels! 🥯 Incredible French toast. 🍞 Omelettes to die for. A few lighter options on the menu as well. The server was ON POINT! Never lacked for coffee ☕️, condiments, or water at the table. Highly recommend stopping here if passing through Rapid City, South Dakota. 🍳

Tally’s Silver Spoon, Rapid City, South Dakota Tally’s Silver Spoon has the rare kind of charm that comes from both history and imagination. Set in downtown Rapid City, this longtime landmark carries its diner roots proudly while serving food with real ambition. The white bean soup, built on beef broth with carrots, onions, herbs, and spices, was deeply comforting and genuinely incredible. Then came Curiosity, a beautifully composed dish of house-cured pork belly, white miso, compressed pear, ponzu gel, puffed forbidden rice, candied ginger, charred citrus dust, crispy shallot, and shiso. Every bite moved between rich, bright, sweet, crisp, and savory. It felt like a full conversation on the plate. Sow and Cow followed with milk-braised pork shank, jasmine rice, soubise, oyster mushrooms, sage glass, and milk crisp. The pork was tender and luxurious, with the onion-rich soubise adding a silky depth that tied everything together. A scoop of vanilla ice cream and a cup of coffee made for a simple, satisfying finish. Service from Palina was excellent. Her recommendations were thoughtful, the pacing was exactly right, and the guidance matched the quality of the kitchen. Tally’s calls itself a “fine diner,” and that description fits. It honors its 1930s roots while offering something creative, polished, and memorable. For anyone visiting Rapid City or the Black Hills, this is not just a meal, it is a stop worth making.

We decided to do the indecision menu (3 courses) which was so fun! You can also add a wine pairing for a very reasonable price (half pours per course). Food was delicious, unique, and service was excellent. Note that they do not serve hard liquor here-only beer, wine, and cider plus NA beverages. If you order the Indecision Menu you CAN state allergies or hatred or certain foods (like shellfish, mushrooms, etc) so no worries if you want a surprise meal but don’t want to end up with something you hate or can’t eat. If you are looking for a high quality meal, definitely check this place out. For the service, food and price, it was an amazing value. We did not think it was unusually small inside, as some other reviewers claim. It was about the size I would expect for this area.
